Retro Row Home
We brought quirky energy into a newly flipped DC townhouse for a young, early‑30s couple adapting to remote work and a growing lifestyle. The blank-slate, cookie-cutter space was transformed into a vibrant, personality-packed home featuring bold colors, eclectic patterns, and nostalgic nods to 90s and 2000s pop culture—like checkerboard backsplash and a legion of statement pieces (including a signed nude portrait of Anna Nicole Smith in the dining area). We carefully layered in thoughtful architectural details like flowing arches and curvaceous elements to temper the retro flair, alongside cozy lounges, generous storage, dual home-office setups, and high-end audio gear like turntables and a home theater. The result is a playful, practical home that feels imbued with the personalities of the owners.

“'Both husbands are extremely fun and energetic, so they didn’t shy away from color and pattern; they wanted the space to be an extension of themselves.' So that’s what it became, thanks to conversations around music, art, fashion, and other things that inspire them, from which Zoë and her team took cues to conjure up an aesthetic lexicon that was equal parts breezy and bright." - Vaishnavi Nayel Talawadekar, Architectural Digest (2024)
