We transformed a prewar two-bedroom, one-bath Kalorama condo into a well‑appointed and functional home that reflects its owner’s vibrant personality. By allocating a good portion of the budget to architectural accents—like marble tile floors and a sculptural plaster vent hood—we elevated the space while economizing on fixtures and lighting. We opened the cramped galley kitchen into the dining room to improve flow and entertainment potential. In the bathroom, every inch of space was optimized with smart built-ins and a dual-use vanity setup, creating function without compromising style. The result is a home that feels fun, elevated, and thoroughly tailored to its owner’s lifestyle.

“The materiality of the curved plaster architecture and vent hood add texture, but the shape helps soften the space. And Feldman added antique stone to give the kitchen a lived-in feeling that feels both ‘cozy and attainable,’ she says. ‘People can more easily relate to and be inspired by a smaller kitchen in a way they can’t with some of the designs seen on social media.’” - Allison Duncan, House Beautiful (2022)

“High style doesn’t always mean high spending—the designer sourced lighting from Etsy and repurposed some of the client’s existing pieces, proving that even a modest budget can deliver a glamorous result when architectural detail and smart planning take center stage.” - Allison Duncan, House Beautiful (2022)
